A little of this and that

  • I completely forgot in my past couple of blogs to thank my sisters! My sisters came to Birmingham for the weekend just to babysit the boys so Colt and I could go to the Alabama game! I felt so comfortable leaving the boys with them and they did a great job! Both boys were sound asleep when we got home!

Parker's Praise!

Today, I got a call from Parker's oral surgeon's office about his biopsy and it was GREAT news! The nurse said it was just scar tissue. Colt and I want to thank you all for your prayers! Praise GOD!! We go back Wednesday morning for his followup appointment. I plan to ask a few questions and hopefully the doctor will be pleased with how Parker's mouth has healed.

Parker Update and iPhone Pictures

Parker is doing great! You would not even know he had surgery... he was already himself the next morning. He did get a little bruise on the outside of his mouth but it is already gone! Parker is still having a little  separation anxiety from me - he wants his mama and I LOVE it! We go to see the doctor next week so I will keep you posted.

Here are a few captures from my iPhone. I have posted three videos of Parker. He has recently figured out that his shadow is following him, at first he cried but now he runs from it and tries to sneak away from it! It is too funny. I hope you enjoy!

Parker's Surgery

Parker's surgery went very well today! Thank you so much for praying for our sweet boy! His surgery was at Children's Hospital downtown with oral surgeon Dr. Roden. They labeled the surgery as a biopsy... which is a scary word to me.  If you would, please continue to pray that the results are good!

The day started off at 4:15AM in the morning. I got up and got ready and fed Beckett. Colt made us breakfast and got ready. Colt's mom arrived at 5AM to take care of Beckett and Colt's dad even stopped by to kiss Parker. Lastly, we got Parker up and loaded him up.

We took a big bag full of crayons, paper, stickers, books, cars and had loaded our iPhone with new movies!  I also packed my breast pump and some snacks and a drink for Parker for after the surgery. At the hospital we had our own room and we watched movies and colored while we were waiting. He was doing great but you could tell he knew something was going on. The nurse let us walk him to the end of the hallway before she had to take him... It was traumatic for all three of us.

After about 45 min, the doctor came in and said everything went great and that he was still waking up from his anesthesia!  Then, 30 minutes later, the nurse called and said Parker was awake and they were going to bring him to the room.  When she brought him back to us, he looked so sweet! He said "hi" and waved - I think Colt and I could finally really breath again!

When he realized what happened with his lip he freaked out. It was really sad. Then, when the nurse took his blood pressure and tried to check his mouth he really freaked out again. We turned on Elmo and had a popsicle and were able to go home!! He was walking... no running out of the hospital! He does not have any real limitations which is good! He came home to gifts from Jenna and Khaki! He ate and took a great nap. He has been doing great and he has only had a few times where you can tell he is hurting.

As most of you know, he LOVES his bed and reaches for it and has never wanted to sleep in our bed - but tonight he would not let go of me and he is sleeping in our bed right now. I am not going to lie - I LOVED it!!! Very thankful for all of your thoughts and prayers! We go back in two weeks for a follow up, I will keep you posted.

Family Fun Weekend!

Our weekend was fun and relaxing!
It was so nice to have most of the weekend with just the four of us and nothing we had to do!!

Friday night, we visited Colt's grandfather at the nursing home... and Parker was not very good at all.  I had to take him to the car to get him to settle down while Colt got to visit with his grandfather. Parker has definitely been going through a stage for a few months now where he can throw some great fits and I am just praying that Colt and I are handling his fits the right way... it is so hard!  After, that we went to the Irondale Cafe for dinner.  It was really good, and I am usually not a big fan of "cafeteria style" food. Parker was great at dinner, and Beckett slept.  Across from the restaurant, there was a nice area built where you could watch the trains as they came by.  So after dinner, we went and watched the trains... it was really neat that Parker was able to see his first train.

Saturday, Colt went to the Alabama game with his friend Trey and they had a great time! While Colt was at the game I took the boys to McWane Science Center. I love watching Parker play there! He gets so excited and I think he discovers something new every time we go. When Colt got home we took the boys to the fair. It was not crowded at all and we all really enjoyed it! Parker was too little to ride any rides but we let him play games - one was throwing a ball into moving bowls and he made one! They also had a monkey, grizzly bears, a petting zoo and pig races.

Sunday, we were lazy all morning and after Parker got up from nap we went to Bass Pro Shop. We had never been there before and Colt thought it might be a neat get out of the house treat. It was really nice and they had activities for the kids! We wandered around the store and checked everything out and then ended with dinner at Cracker Barrel.

Monday, was a really lazy and rainy day and we had a late lunch at Colt's parents house.

I hope you all had a great weekend. Sorry, for the long blog post! Here are a ton of pictures from my iPhone.
